Roundup #3

I really like the idea of doing a weekly roundup but I still haven't figured out what kind of format I want to use. So here I am, trying something different! I'm going to pick my favorite online finds of the week and talk about what makes them so wonderful.

ART

This is an awesome piece by designer Briar Mark. It's all hand-embroidered but made to look just like a simple photoshop design. I've always found that dichotomy very interesting-- handmade vs manufactured. I think I would have done very well during the Arts & Crafts Movement of the late 19th century! For a couple of years these kinds of ideas have been rumbling around in my head but I haven't acted on them yet. But I love Mark's interpretation-- check out his portfolio, he has more great designs and also a making-of video for this one!

CRAFTS

Unfortunately I don't know the source for this one... it seems to have been originally posted by frankiecat1111 on tumblr but I'm not sure if she made it. I wish I could have found a pattern!! I love amigurumi and have had an unexplained recent obsession with babushkas. If anyone knows who created these adorable ladies, leave a comment letting me know!

FASHION

I recently joined Chictopia and so far I am loving it! I like how users are encouraged to interact with each other using a point system that can be used to get prizes. Usually I tend to be shy on new websites, but I've been doing all kinds of forum posts and comments! My favorite outfit I've seen so far is this cute ensemble by CassidyJ. The bright pink pants are adorable and when they are combined with equally pink boat shoes, the effect is even better! I'm not sure I would be brave enough to pull off matching colors so close together, but I certainly commend whoever can! Also I am a big fan of denim vests and love how it combines with the crop top. I'm in the middle of a DIY vest so hopefully I'll have one of my own to share soon! I only have one outfit posted so far but you can find me here.

SHOPPING

I've always been a huge fan of ModCloth. Huge, huge fan. But I've never bought anything, because it's a bit expensive and I'm so nervous about buying online! But if I were super-rich, this is definitely what I would get. It's made of real leather with a trendy neon orange color, and it's a SATCHEL. What could be better than a satchel?? Nothing, that's what.
